We are a ministry of Peoples Church located in Bemidji, Minnesota dedicated to getting folks of all ages, races, and socioeconomic status on bicycles. Our primary activity is collecting old bikes, fixing them and getting them to low-income people. We promote free cycling events in the community, distribute helmets, teach mechanical skills and safety. Along the way we build relationships among the young and the old, the poor and the rich, people of different races and ethnicities, the privileged and the “least and lost.” Bicycling is for everybody and in sharing this health promoting, planet friendly activity we bring our community closer to the inclusive vision entrusted to us by our Creator. And we have a lot of FUN!
Watch this space for upcoming events. Read the blog and post comments. Check out the history of Shifting Gears. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer, donate bikes, or get more information.
We are located at 303 Railroad St SW. Cross the Irivne Street Railroad bridge.Turn left, we are the next building over from Rhode’s Feeds.
Shifting Gears Re-opening
June 4, 2016 10am to 1pm
After a bit of a hiatus Shifting Gears is back in business under the competent direction of Dan Devault. Join us on Saturday. On Saturday will be primarily giving out children’s bicycles and doing minor repairs.
We have a large accumulation of bicycles that will take more than we have to repair. These will be on the lawn at Shifting Gears and available to the public from Friday June 3 through Sunday June 5. You may take any bikes for parts, repair, or scrap. Anything left on Monday June 6th will be scrapped.
Please note we will NOT be available to inspect or help repair these bikes. They are yours to take as is.
