Welcome to Shifting Gears Bemidji!

We are a ministry of Peoples Church located in Bemidji, Minnesota dedicated to getting folks of all ages, races, and socioeconomic status on bicycles.  Our primary activity is collecting old bikes, fixing them and getting them to low-income people.  We promote free cycling events in the community, distribute helmets, teach mechanical skills and safety.  Along the way we build relationships among the young and the old, the poor and the rich, people of different races and ethnicities, the privileged and the “least and lost.”  Bicycling is for everybody and in sharing this health promoting, planet friendly activity we bring our community closer to the inclusive vision entrusted to us by our Creator.  And we have a lot of FUN!
